Hi,
I didn’t begin putting on extra weight until after high school. I was very active playing basketball and softball so extra pounds had never been a concern for me. Over the next couple of decades, I would lose and gain the same weight using all the fads and pills. I finally made the decision in 2020 to have Gastric Sleeve Surgery. BeLiteWeight was recommended by a colleague and so began my journey.
My insurance did not cover bariatric surgery of any kind for any reason. Being able to use this company has been a life changer for me. On the day of surgery in March of 2021, I was over 300 pounds. As of March 2024, I maintain a weight between 125-130 pounds. I have been able to run in several 5K’s and I also work out using an elliptical and lift weights 3-4 times a week. (Women, lean muscle mass is very important for us!) In 2023 I began having skin removal surgeries as well. I won’t be able to get it all removed, but I am satisfied with what I’ve been able to do up until this point as these procedures are painful and take time to recover. I am not shy about sharing my story as this will change your life.
The surgery was the easy part as recovery was simple. The difficult part is making the decision each day to move your body to reach your health goals. I still struggle with wanting to overeat, but my body just won’t allow it anymore. It’s not a magical solution as you can still gain the weight back, just by eating smaller portions during the day. It’s still a decision I have to make every day and will have to make in the future to continue to be able to live the life I want. I know my story has already helped others and I hope it can help you as well. Please reach out if you have any questions as this truly is a life-changing decision.
I would be remiss if I didn’t mention this as well…not everyone will be on your side as you go through this process. You will hear things like, ‘oh, I didn’t know you had surgery, I thought you did it the natural way’, ‘what are you going to do with all the flabby skin’, and my least favorite is when you find out the nice things said to your face are not always what was said behind your back…yes, I know. Hey JoAnne! All is very well!! I’m loving my progress. As of this morning, I have officially lost 72lbs. I’m at a weight now that I honestly never remember being at. Over all my journey has been great! I was fortunate enough to be able to glide through each step with out gas pain or any of the side effects many experience during this journey.
I immediately felt so much better physically. In a matter of weeks my leg inflammation and sciatica pain that had been a constant ailment and made my daily life that much harder to sit, stand or walk was gone!! Inflammation in my bladder that I wasn’t aware of also went away and I was no longer going to the restroom every 1.5 hours or having accidents. Obviously, my mobility and energy got better as I lost more weight. The physical outside changes have been amazing but having my chronic pain because of my weight disappear has been the biggest Blessing of all.

So I basically found BeLiteWeight by accident, and boy am I thankful I did! At my biggest weight I came in at 400 pounds. I was a food addict in the worst way and I couldn’t stop. I had been overweight since I was about 10 years old and at 42 I knew it was time to do something drastic. I began researching weight loss surgeries and settled on gastric sleeve. After some “googling” I found BeLiteWeight and right from the beginning they were simply awesome. They explained the process and matched me with the doctors in Mexico and I was off to the races.
Let me tell you that the hospital in Mexico was amazing. My doctors were top notch and the nursing staff was second to none and professional doesn’t begin to describe it. My stay went off without a hitch and I was back to the States.
I followed the doctor’s instructions to the letter. In no time I was losing weight. All in all I ended up at 180 pounds after about 8-10 months. It was an amazing journey. The surgery worked and 2 years later is still working! It has changed my life and I do not have any issues getting the proper nutrients or fluids. This is an issue many people fear, but if you follow the plans given and are vigilant you will have no issues as the years go on.
I am so thankful for BeLiteWeight and the doctors in Mexico. I would do it over 1000 times if I had to. I feel so much better I can’t even begin to describe it. I went from a size 50 pants to 34!
