The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach – although this is an old saying no one can deny the importance of food. This Valentine’s Day couples are more happy to share a romantic dinner for the other half and indulge in sweet desserts.
It is not without reason that this holiday of lovers is famous for delicacies made of…. chocolate. Thanks to the cocoa (so the more, the better!) chocolate is an aphrodisiac that is rich in stimulating phenylethylamine (which quickly releases endorphins) and theobromine, or caffeine, that increases activity and strengthen.
Probably a lot of you think, what, if I am on a diet? Don’t worry, we have some great Valentine snack suggestions for you to prepare that will be perfect for your next romantic evening. These are all tasty AND healthy!
Don’t forget that savory & healthy food is one of the best gifts that you can give to your loved one. These ideas are delicious and full of aphrodisiacs that will stimulate your evening. 😊
So let’s start the compositions of potential plates
Chocolate is one of the best Valentine’s aphrodisiacs. And yes ! You can still be on the diet and use this wonderful ingredient to make your valentine dessert. You just have to make sure to use real chocolate without too much sugar. One effective idea for sweets are chocolate covered strawberries. You only need a half cup of melted dark chocolate with two tablespoons of coconut oil and some sweetener of your choice. One of our favorites for example is made from monk fruit and of course the strawberries are sweet too. Now dip them in the melted chocolate and voilà the dessert is ready 🙂
A bowl of natural forest fruit like berries will also be perfect. They taste great and are simply very healthy! Rich in vitamins, minerals, macronutrients and micronutrients fruits are always the best.
Slices of ham and meats with cheese are also great because they contain a lot of protein which are useful for rebuilding and strengthening.
Mixed cheese platter. Parmesan Gorgonzola, and Ricotta are the the most recommended. Parmesan lowers blood pressure and also is low in calories. Gorgonzola is characterized by low cholesterol levels. Ricotta thanks to light texture and relatively high moisture content, is one of the least caloric cheeses.
Of course, don’t let your Valentine’s plate be without your favorite nuts. They are so full of benefits that we do not need to stress their health properties.
As all of you can see there are plenty of ideas out there and we hope you will use some these options for your Valentines day.
Simply having a messy apartment can make it much more difficult to keep to a diet. Disorder itself causes stress, which can easily lead to worse food choices and more snacking throughout the day. Our food choices are more likely to receive lower-quality meals when we are anxious.
But order in the apartment is not enough. To make our diet more effective it is also very important to maintain a clean mind with internal peace and harmony. Soul order is a very important element in the weight loss process.
Emotions often drive overeating and the end result is often the same. The happiness of eating is temporary and the emotions return. Afterwards there is the additional burden of guilt for setting stepping back from the intended weight-loss goal. This often starts the unhealthy cycle all over again with emotions triggering overeating.
So when negative emotions threaten to trigger emotional eating, here are some steps you can use to control your cravings.
YOU Time. Try to relax
For example, listen to your favorite music or do some yoga and stretching
Have a hunger reality check.
Is your hunger physical or emotional? If you ate just a few hours ago and don’t have a rumbling stomach, you’re probably not hungry. Give the craving time to pass.
You’re more likely to give in to emotional eating if you lack a good supportive network. Lean on family and friends or consider joining a social group.
Instead of snacking when you’re not hungry, distract yourself and substitute a healthier behavior. Take a walk, watch a movie, play with your dog, read etc.
Hopefully some of you are now surprised to understand how keeping order can help us with our weight goals. Now after reading this article we hope it will be easier for you to motivate yourself, starting from the inside 🙂
Anais’s story is short but in her own words exciting. The latest BeLiteWeight update shows how going through weight loss surgery can lead to changes in new healthy habits for not only our patients but their families as well.
After witnessing Anais’ commitment to a healthier lifestyle her husband decided to make some changes as well. Here is what Anais wrote to us:
It’s been a journey. I lost from like 172 to I’m down to 120.I’m so happy with the weight loss. My face is clear. My activity level is so high and working out at the gym consistently. My husband has been super supportive and lost 20 pounds himself and lost enough to join the Navy. We are so excited!
Doesn’t she look beautiful in her wedding dress? 🙂 We congratulate you on this wonderful accomplishment and wish the best of luck for both of you in your new lives together !
“I truly am finally living life the way it was supposed to lived.”-Andrew
What a beautiful thought. After seeing Andrew’s progress 2 years after having weight loss surgery we feel even more confident about being the CEO’s of our own lives. Looking at just his before and after pictures we really can’t argue with the human potential for change! He looks stunning, posing proudly with inner strength and confidence in the eyes. Andrew knew exactly what he want and he got it. Here is the rest of his letter:
“I am doing amazingly well. Holding steady at 189 lbs. I have gone from a waist size of 54/56 in pants to a 34 and a 6 XL to a medium-large in shirts. Started at 375 in August 2018. Overall loss 186lbs, about 1/2 of my prior weight. I couldn’t have done it without y’all!”
Results are only achieved if somebody really wishes to cooperate and puts in the work. It is thanks to the courage and determination of Andrew that we can share another BeLiteWeight success story.

Dear readers, we invite you to listen to another beautiful story directly from our patient Savannah. It is so amazing what she has done in little more than one year!
“To say the last year has been easy would be a lie but was gastric bypass worth it? Absolutely! Let me tell you a little bit about my journey…” A slim and slender figure is everyone’s dream. Sometimes, the road to success can be difficult because not only temptations, but also because of many different obstacles. Today, with great admiration, BeLite can tell the story of our patient who, after tedious efforts, found her way to find herself, so that with help our team to be on the better side of life.
After the first 6 weeks, I questioned if I did the right thing and even considered having it reversed at my year mark if I wasn’t any better. I got really sick, I became unemployed, I missed out on my children’s activities and I became even more bed ridden. I was losing weight and that felt great. I found a new doctor when I had had all I could take.
She ran blood work and sent me to every specialist that she could think of. I was hospitalized for several weeks and went through every test imaginable. Nothing came up. Everyone would tell me it’s a bad reaction to the bypass. I didn’t believe that because 10 years prior to my surgery I struggled with the same symptoms so it couldn’t be the bypass. I was finally sent to an immunologist and much to my surprise, this was the last place my doctor knew to send me. After this we were at a brick wall. After many blood tests, allergy testing and immune testing we finally have it!!!
I was diagnosed one month ago with an immune deficiency. I have probably suffered with this all my life after reviewing my medical history as a child. I was diagnosed with S.A.D. (specific antibody deficiency). My body makes antibodies to fight off infections and bacterias but my antibodies don’t work, leaving me with no immune system and vulnerable to recurrent infections.
Because of this I have had many many surgeries and almost felt like a pin cushion. Now I have an answer and a treatment. I receive Immunoglobulin infusion therapy 2 times a month. I sit in a small room with an IV hooked up to plasma and I sit for several hours. I just received my first treatment and I feel so great and I am starting to wean off my nausea medicines and pain meds.
With all of that said, I just want you to know that I am living my best life since being diagnosed and starting treatment and I am 120lbs lighter and I have so much energy and getting to actually enjoy my weight loss. I had to walk through a storm to get to the sunshine but having the bypass saved my life in more ways than one. If I hadn’t had it done most doctors would keep looking at my weight as ALL my problems, and I wouldn’t be the mom I am able to be right now. I am active, I play softball, I just recently started going back to the gym and lifting weights and I feel free!!! I love myself again and I am so happy I made the decision that I did 1 year ago on my actual birthday. I had a wonderful staff that was so sweet and caring in a very nice facility. I would tell anyone that is considering weight loss surgery it is hard mentally the first several months but if you really want change and stick with it you can get through the mental part and have a better life. I eat normally now but I have learned to push away and make better choices with food. It is a tool that can really help you.
Thank you so much for all your help and patience with me when I was making my decision. It was the best thing I ever did!!!
I am so grateful for all of your help and that in the end the struggle was worth it all!!!”
The team at BeLiteWeight is thrilled for you Savannah! It is always such a pleasure to see such powerful success from our past clients.
”Even the furthest journey begins with the first step”
Did you know that if you or someone you know has Medicare part A and B that weight loss surgery could be a covered benefit?
The BeLiteWeight team knows this quote well and has once again helped a client through the hoops and requirements to have Medicare cover her initial weight loss surgery and as well as her revision surgery. Raeann agreed to share her results with all of you.
Raeann’s surgical weight loss ”journey” started quite early, she had Lap Band in 2007 but it had to be taken out in 2017. However, the story of our patient gets even more amazing. During her initial recovery from her Band removal surgery Raeann fell ill with unrelated thyroid issues but as she says, she never gave up! Eventually she recovered and had her revision to the Gastric Sleeve in July 2018! Today she proudly tells us about her achievements:
My starting weight with the band was 315 and got down to 100 pounds (I’m only 5’1″). I lost a total of 215 pounds with my band. In the year after my band had to be removed I regained up to 206 and then had my revision and I got down to 139.
Photos of her journey:
Our patient proves that it is worth it to be brave starting a new road, even when the destination seems very distant. If you or a loved one is suffering from obesity then you can also take this journey with us too! “If we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet”
Our team at BeLiteWeight is always excited and proud to hear from our wonderful patients that have found the success they are looking for. We just received an update from Michael to share that is really impressive! In just 13 months he lost roughly two hundred pounds and is now off all his medications! Here is his update in his own words:
“Finally hit Onederland! This quarantine was rough, but still managed to lose 13 lbs in the last 10 weeks. Now if I could be brave enough to go get a pedicure for these darn feet! Highest Weight:399 (was probably over 400 at one point) Current Weight: 199 Total loss: 200 Best part: off all medications and I feel great!
It is incredibly inspiring to hear from someone who has changed their life for the better in such a profoundly significant way. BeLiteWeight is so happy for you Michael!
It is truly special for the team at BeLiteWeight to hear from a patient that has found the long term success that they were hoping to achieve. 2 and a half years ago Tracy embarked on her journey with the Gastric Sleeve and chose our surgical team in Juarez Mexico led by Dr. Rodriguez and his excellent group of surgeons. She looks like a whole new person and we could not be more proud to share her letter!
Good afternoon!- I wanted to share my update with everyone. On the day of my surgery i weighed in at 430 pounds. Two and a half years after Dr. Jose Rodriguez Villareal did his magic i now weigh 115 pounds. I’ve dropped from a 34W to a size 4. People who haven’t seen me in years are amazed. I’m really amazed that I don’t have more loose skin than i do. (I recommend to anyone who has had this surgery to drink plenty of water whole you’re losing weight to help with the skin elasticity. ). Thank you so much to BeLiteWeight and Dr. Jose Rodriguez Villareal for saving my life!!
What an impressive job you have done Tracy!! With all of the hard work and progress you have made there is no limit to what is coming next!
