How To Fight The Craving For Sweets

Cravings for sweets can come at any time. Usually the symptom is a simple drop in blood glucose levels, however if the sudden craving for a sweet snack appears too frequently it could be a sign of sugar addiction leading to serious metabolic diseases. Today we’re going to share with you some clever tricks how to naturally reduce your craving for sweet snacks.

  • One of the most important rules is to drink water REGULARLY. Make sure to have the right amount of it in your diet. Water will help your body regulate the hunger and satisfaction center in the brain.
  • Learn to use healthy substitutes. Once in a while, a piece of dark chocolate or dried figs instead of a milkshake or fruit cake will certainly not hurt you. Consumed once in a while, natural delights will satisfy your sweet desire. In addition. Those snacks are not full of empty calories. A square of dark chocolate is rich in magnesium, potassium and iron.
  • Wash your teeth… that’s right you read this right 😉 It really helps. However crazy it sounds, a fresh mouth makes us not want to destroy the feeling, so … we do not eat as much with fresh breath.
  • Carefully read the labels of the products you buy. Sugar is also added in various hidden forms. Sucrose, fructose, sodium glutamate are also enemies of our healthy diet. Also, be careful with xylitol, mannitol and erythritol, which are healthy sugar substitutes. We advise you to reach for pure natural monk fruit – considered to be the healthiest alternative.
  • Start using a simple trick – if you want a sweet cookie or a candy bar, first reach for water and a vegetable like carrots and celery.
  • The scent of vanilla also suppresses the feeling of hunger. If you don’t like its taste in food, buy vanilla oil and spray it over in your home.
  • If you are a coffee fan, we have good news for you. A cup of coffee will surely help you when you suddenly feel like something sweet.
  • Do not keep sweets within vision. Keep them hidden or take them out of the house at all.
  • Finally: Don’t give up.
It may seem impossible to cut sugar, but as time goes on your taste buds will adapt to this new eating style.

Valentine Dining

The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach – although this is an old saying no one can deny the importance of food. This Valentine’s Day couples are more happy to share a romantic dinner for the other half and indulge in sweet desserts.

It is not without reason that this holiday of lovers is famous for delicacies made of…. chocolate. Thanks to the cocoa (so the more, the better!) chocolate is an aphrodisiac that is rich in stimulating phenylethylamine (which quickly releases endorphins) and theobromine, or caffeine, that increases activity and strengthen.

Probably a lot of you think, what, if I am on a diet? Don’t worry, we have some great Valentine snack suggestions for you to prepare that will be perfect for your next romantic evening. These are all tasty AND healthy!

Don’t forget that savory & healthy food is one of the best gifts that you can give to your loved one. These ideas are delicious and full of aphrodisiacs that will stimulate your evening. 😊

So let’s start the compositions of potential plates

  • Chocolate is one of the best Valentine’s aphrodisiacs. And yes ! You can still be on the diet and use this wonderful ingredient to make your valentine dessert. You just have to make sure to use real chocolate without too much sugar. One effective idea for sweets are chocolate covered strawberries. You only need a half cup of melted dark chocolate with two tablespoons of coconut oil and some sweetener of your choice. One of our favorites for example is made from monk fruit and of course the strawberries are sweet too. Now dip them in the melted chocolate and voilà the dessert is ready 🙂
  • A bowl of natural forest fruit like berries will also be perfect. They taste great and are simply very healthy! Rich in vitamins, minerals, macronutrients and micronutrients fruits are always the best.
  • Slices of ham and meats with cheese are also great because they contain a lot of protein which are useful for rebuilding and strengthening.
  • Mixed cheese platter. Parmesan Gorgonzola, and Ricotta are the the most recommended. Parmesan lowers blood pressure and also is low in calories. Gorgonzola is characterized by low cholesterol levels. Ricotta thanks to light texture and relatively high moisture content, is one of the least caloric cheeses.
  • Of course, don’t let your Valentine’s plate be without your favorite nuts. They are so full of benefits that we do not need to stress their health properties.

As all of you can see there are plenty of ideas out there and we hope you will use some these options for your Valentines day.

We wish all our readers a lot of love.

Fiber – The Truth Or Big Myth

Dietary fiber is the only type of “harmless” carbohydrate and is mostly non-starchy carbohydrate that the human body cannot digest. Interestingly, in the past fiber was considered unnecessary and only litters our digestive system and impairing the absorption of various substances. As science and knowledge progressed there began many reports about the beneficial effects of fiber. It was supposed to protect against diabetes, heart attacks and some said it cured cancer. But now we know that it is what are the benefits and what we can leave for fairy tales.

A few facts:

Fiber, being a non-digestible filler, causes a faster feeling of fullness (full stomach). People who eat a lot of fiber, yes, they are actually leaner and healthier, BUT not because fiber has a beneficial effect on their bodies, but because they eat less (and provide the body with less energy and digestible carbohydrates).

Certain types of fiber feed on the bacteria that live in our colon. These bacteria convert cellulose and other fiber carbohydrates into certain vitamins and short-chain fatty acids that provide energy for the cells in the lining of the gut and reduce inflammation in the body. Another side Fiber can have a negative impact on our health, because it reduces the absorption of many substances, both harmful and beneficial (some vitamins and useful micronutrients).

Fiber also impairs the absorption of phytoestregens (and other hormones and similar substances from food, e.g. from legumes or industrial meat), which helps with estrogen dominance. Too much estrogen in the body of both men and women is not good and causes many diseases and diseases. There are theories and observations linking eating more fiber to removing estrogen from the gut and lowering its concentration in the blood.

Cereals and similar products contain a lot of fiber that is mainly insoluble fiber and does not give us much health benefit.

As you can see, it is a subject worth exploring. You hear so often that too much fiber can bring us more harm than good. But if you have just the right amount your body will thank you!

Storm to Sunshine: Savannah 16 Month After

“To say the last year has been easy would be a lie but was gastric bypass worth it? Absolutely! Let me tell you a little bit about my journey…” A slim and slender figure is everyone's dream. Sometimes, the road to success can be difficult because not only temptations, but also because of many different obstacles. Today, with great admiration, BeLite can tell the story of our patient who, after tedious efforts, found her way to find herself, so that with help our team to be on the better side of life. Dear readers, we invite you to listen to another beautiful story : After the first 6 weeks, I questioned if I did the right thing and even considered having it reversed at my year mark if I wasn't any better. I got really sick, I became unemployed, I missed out on my children's activities and I became even more bed ridden. I was losing weight and that felt great. I found a new doctor when I had had all I could take. She ran blood work and sent me to every specialist that she could think of. I was hospitalized for several weeks and went through every test imaginable. Nothing came up. Everyone would tell me it's a bad reaction to the bypass. I didn't believe that because 10 years prior to my surgery I struggled with the same symptoms so it couldn't be the bypass. I was finally sent to an immunologist and much to my surprise, this was the last place my doctor knew to send me. After this we were at a brick wall. After many blood tests, allergy testing and immune testing we finally have it!!! I was diagnosed one month ago with an immune deficiency. I have probably suffered with this all my life after reviewing my medical history as a child. I was diagnosed with S.A.D. (specific antibody deficiency). My body makes antibodies to fight off infections and bacterias but my antibodies don't work, leaving me with no immune system and vulnerable to recurrent infections. Because of this I have had many many surgeries and almost felt like a pin cushion. Now I have an answer and a treatment. I receive Immunoglobulin infusion therapy 2 times a month. I sit in a small room with an IV hooked up to plasma and I sit for several hours. I just received my first treatment and I feel so great and I am starting to wean off my nausea medicines and pain meds. With all of that said, I just want you to know that I am living my best life since being diagnosed and starting treatment and I am 120lbs lighter and I have so much energy and getting to actually enjoy my weight loss. I had to walk through a storm to get to the sunshine but having the bypass saved my life in more ways than one. If I hadn't had it done most doctors would keep looking at my weight as ALL my problems, and I wouldn't be the mom I am able to be right now. I am active, I play softball, I just recently started going back to the gym and lifting weights and I feel free!!! I love myself again and I am so happy I made the decision that I did 1 year ago on my actual birthday. I had a wonderful staff that was so sweet and caring in a very nice facility. I would tell anyone that is considering weight loss surgery it is hard mentally the first several months but if you really want change and stick with it you can get through the mental part and have a better life. I eat normally now but I have learned to push away and make better choices with food. It is a tool that can really help you. Thank you so much for all your help and patience with me when I was making my decision. It was the best thing I ever did!!! started: 260lbs now: 140lbs I am so grateful for all of your help and that in the end the struggle was worth it all!!!

Tracey 2.5 Years Later: 34W to a Size 4

Tracey T Weight Loss Surgery Before and After

It is truly special for the team at BeLiteWeight to hear from a patient that has found the long term success that they were hoping to achieve. 2 and a half years ago Tracy embarked on her journey with the Gastric Sleeve and chose our surgical team in Juarez Mexico led by Dr. Rodriguez and his excellent group of surgeons. She looks like a whole new person and we could not be more proud to share her letter!

Good afternoon!-
I wanted to share my update with everyone.  On the day of my surgery i weighed in at 430 pounds.  Two and a half years after Dr. Jose Rodriguez Villareal did his magic i now weigh 115 pounds.  I’ve dropped from a 34W to a size 4. People who haven’t seen me in years are amazed.  I’m really amazed that I don’t have more loose skin than i do.  (I recommend to anyone who has had this surgery to drink plenty of water whole you’re losing weight to help with the skin elasticity. ).  Thank you so much to BeLiteWeight and Dr. Jose Rodriguez Villareal for saving my life!!

What an impressive job you have done Tracy!! With all of the hard work and progress you have made there is no limit to what is coming next!
