Our team at BeLiteWeight is always excited and proud to hear from our wonderful patients that have found the success they are looking for. We just received an update from Michael to share that is really impressive! In just 13 months he lost roughly two hundred pounds and is now off all his medications! Here is his update in his own words:
“Finally hit Onederland! This quarantine was rough, but still managed to lose 13 lbs in the last 10 weeks. Now if I could be brave enough to go get a pedicure for these darn feet! Highest Weight:399 (was probably over 400 at one point) Current Weight: 199 Total loss: 200 Best part: off all medications and I feel great!
It is incredibly inspiring to hear from someone who has changed their life for the better in such a profoundly significant way. BeLiteWeight is so happy for you Michael!
One decision can change your whole life. Once again, BeLiteWeight is very happy to hear another beautiful story from one of our newer patients Heidi. It makes us especially proud to see her with such a big bright smile & writing such kind words in her recent letter. She gave us permission to share it!
At my heaviest I was 225 pounds at only 5’2. I was so physically tired carrying around the weight. I have an office job and kids that were older so my lifestyle really supported my obesity. I could get away with sitting most of the day at work and then when I got home I could do the same. Each day I would sit more and more because it was so exhausting to me to do anything else. So I just stopped trying.
One day when I was bringing groceries into the house I really lost my breath. I had to take a break between each trip back to the car. It was that day in 2018 that I decided I HAD to do something. I had been on every program you can think of before that, but I went right back online to sign up for a paid program. Once there I decided to look into weight loss surgery. I wanted something that would work this time! Then I saw how much it cost! No way I thought. It wouldn’t be an option for me and my insurance didn’t cover it. So, I google weight loss surgery without insurance and magically Beliteweight came up in that search! Being able to talk to real people and use a company that is based in the US sealed the deal for me. I had my surgery on December 7, 2018. I was still 225 pounds on surgery day.
I am now one year and 2 months post op. I hit my goal weight of 125 one year post op. I am now currently at 118. I am healthy and active! I just returned from a trip to Cabo where I was able to wear a regular bathing suit. You know what I mean, one that I didn’t have to be completely covered. I had spent many years avoiding trips and being around the water. I had to wear bathing suits that covered my entire stomach and shorts or a skirt kind of bottom to hide the thighs. I felt like to go to the beach or the pool I was still fully dressed. During my trip I never once felt like people were staring at me. I spent most of the days by the pool or at the beach… in my bikini!!! It felt amazing.
I have so many non scale victories I could continue typing for the next month. Everything I do is physically easy to me now. It doesn’t even cross my mind anymore. I think about something I want to do and I just do it. No regrets after at all. This has changed my life. It was the best decision I have ever made for myself. I am finally living again.
The support that you get from the people at BeLite is amazing. They have continued to stay in touch. The trip to Mexico for my surgery was amazing. The hospital there was better and cleaner than any I’ve ever been to here in the states. The surgeons are very attentive and really spend the time with you that is needed. I met my surgeon the moment I walked into the center. I had absolutely no issue communicating with any of the staff there. I literally speak zero amount of Spanish. They took great care of me before and after my surgery.
If you’re ready to start living again… this is the way to go!!! I’m so excited about my life I’m living right now and look forward to the life I get to live in the future.
Thank you for being such a great role model for others who are struggling to reach their target weight. In such a short time
It is truly special for the team at BeLiteWeight to hear from a patient that has found the long term success that they were hoping to achieve. 2 and a half years ago Tracy embarked on her journey with the Gastric Sleeve and chose our surgical team in Juarez Mexico led by Dr. Rodriguez and his excellent group of surgeons. She looks like a whole new person and we could not be more proud to share her letter!
Good afternoon!- I wanted to share my update with everyone. On the day of my surgery i weighed in at 430 pounds. Two and a half years after Dr. Jose Rodriguez Villareal did his magic i now weigh 115 pounds. I’ve dropped from a 34W to a size 4. People who haven’t seen me in years are amazed. I’m really amazed that I don’t have more loose skin than i do. (I recommend to anyone who has had this surgery to drink plenty of water whole you’re losing weight to help with the skin elasticity. ). Thank you so much to BeLiteWeight and Dr. Jose Rodriguez Villareal for saving my life!!
What an impressive job you have done Tracy!! With all of the hard work and progress you have made there is no limit to what is coming next!
We are thrilled to announce that all four of our Juarez surgical team members are now Fellows of the American College of Surgeons (F.A.C.S.). Dr. Jose Rodriguez-Villarreal became a Fellow back in 2016 and just recently, Dr. Elmo Aramburo, Dr. Rafael Vizcarra and Dr. Daniel Urbina have received their credentials as well. This is a huge accomplishment and great honor for them, and we are so proud to work with such a distinguished group of surgeons.
The letters F.A.C.S. (Fellow of the American College of Surgeons) after a surgeon’s name are an indication to the patient that the surgeon has passed a thorough evaluation of both professional competence and ethical fitness. Fellows are board-certified surgeons or, in unusual circumstances, have met other standards comparable to board certification. A Fellow has committed herself (himself) unequivocally to place the welfare of her (his) patients above any other consideration; to avoid division of fees with other physicians; to make her (his) fees commensurate with the services she (he) renders; and to refrain from performing unjustified operations.
The link above describes what it is to be a Fellow. (F.A.C.S.) and the section to read is #2.
It’s important to
distinguish the difference between an “Associate” and a “Fellow”. Some surgeons
pay a fee to become an “Associate” member, however, you cannot buy a
Fellowship, it must be earned. The College admits to its Fellowship only
those surgeons whose professional activity is devoted to surgical practice and
who agree without compromise to practice by its professional and ethical
The F.A.C.S. credential exists to foster the professional growth and
development of surgeons, to promote high standards and best practices in
surgical care, and to establish and maintain the patients’ confidence in the
ability and integrity of their surgeon.
You can check ANY surgeons F.A.C.S standing here (be sure to choose the country of the surgeon on the left side before searching): CLICK HERE

BeLiteWeight would like to share an update from one of our patients that had the Gastric Sleeve with Dr. Rodriguez early this past year. He is showing incredible progress shown by the reduction in his blood pressure medication. Way to go Michael!
I am down almost 80lbs, I’m running, BP is down (not as far as I’d like but down) and I’m off 2 BP pills. Couldn’t be happier at this point.
BeLiteWeight recently heard from a very special patient of ours Michelaine who recently found success with the Mini Bypass. 10 months after the surgery most symptoms of her diabetes are gone and she is wearing outfits she wouldn’t have dreamed of. In her recent two letters she details her experience with the medical care with BeLiteWeight in Mexico and has photos of the stages of her journey. It is quite impressive!
I finally decided to share my journey to weight loss. After being a tiny 112lbs after two children and still wearing bikinis somewhere after my third child and his medical challenges for 22 yrs now, I found myself not taking care of myself but still feeling like I was beautiful. Everyone told me how beautiful I was although I was steadily gaining weight. I went from 134lbs three years after my third child was born and feeling great because I had worked hard to get to that weight, fast forward 2018 to 209lbs. My heaviest weight documented, Type II diabetes, heart issues, knees and hips pain, couldn’t walk or climb stairs without being out of breath.
During the same time as fighting for my son’s life I fought for my own through cancer multiple times and went through the hardest divorce of my life. I didn’t know who I was, I didn’t like myself and always had on a happy face and was there for everyone else. On day while sitting Indian style it was almost like I could feel my skin stretching. I know that sounds crazy but I know I could! When the scales showed 209 I was done! I wasn’t going to let myself become a person that couldn’t lift their legs, sit in a booth etc… I wanted to be able to kayack, white water raft and all the things I once enjoyed and most importantly be here for my children and the love of my life. I made the decision to seek help. This is when I came across Be-Lite.
I was full of questions as I’m very OCD and obsessed with having to know… The Be-Lite staff was very patient with me. They explained all my options as well as the other thousand of questions. It took me about six months to make my decision to have the Metabolic Mini-bypass. Then came the task of convincing my boyfriend it was okay to go to Mexico and let them preform a surgical procedure on me.
He did his own research, as he always does, tried to convince me I was beautiful and didn’t need surgery. Due to the way my body held weight I never really looked as heavy as I was. Once I told a few my weight they were shocked. Many of my friends that looked heavier actually weighed less than I. He finally agreed.
I will say that he and I were completely impressed with Dr Rod and staff as well as Hospital Angeles’ . We had a better experience in Mexico than we have at most American hospitals and not once did we have to ask for anything medical wise and wait on someone to assist us. I did throw a latex sensitivity while there which they were quickly on top of it even managing my pain without asking!
Upon returning home I did have some unusual complications to which the Be-Lite staff and Dr Rod were right there for me. My stomach opening had cinched down to less than 5mm so I wasn’t able to swallow anything even water at times. I had three procedures to stretch the opening. Dr Rod kept in touch with me and even offered to bring me back to Mexico at their cost if needed. I couldn’t have asked for better care! He kept up with my records from the doctor here. My doctor here stated after the first procedure that everything that was done in Mexico looked fantastic! It was beautifully done. This was very comforting as once I started having the set back you can’t help but think did you do the right thing. I’m happy to say that 10 months out tomorrow, I’m down 80lbs and 4-6 pant sizes. My shoes are even either to big now or fitting better. My diabetes is almost none existence and I can walk circles around walk I could! My heart is great. And my doctor reports that my numbers are fabulous! I’m still about 10lbs from where I would love to be but and very happy with where I am.
I can’t thank Dr Rod, Jamie and all the other staff with Be-Lite and Dr Rod’s team.
PS. Vulnerable Moment because I’ve never posted pics. Jamie and the team have often asked…. These opened not only my eyes but the eyes of my boyfriend when I started comparing before and after with him…. I hope my story helps someone whom may be undecided in their journey.

(Follow Up Letter)
my boo said I almost looked to good to go out in this outfit. 10 months ago I would not have even attempted shorts in fact I hadn’t felt comfortable in shorts in quiet some time much less this type.
Again, thank you so much for giving me my health and confidence back!
Warm Regards, Michelaine
Thank you so much for sharing Michelaine! We are sure others will find your story inspiring and helpful. Continue being awesome!
Our BeLiteWeight team is no stranger to the scene of surgical weight loss options. After assisting more than ten thousand customers over the past fifteen years our patients stories have given us insight in to what options are better for certain people. Even if you or a loved one is not excessively overweight but is suffering from Type 2 Diabetes than bariatric surgery may help alleviate many symptoms and put the disease in to withdrawal. This has been the case for many of our patients!
However, certain procedures are more effective than others at combating Type 2 Diabetes. The two most common bariatric procedures are the Gastric Bypass and the Vertical Sleeve, but the Bypass has been shown to be exceptionally effective for those with Diabetes. This is likely to do with the the effects of the procedure on the stomaches absorption processes.
While BeLiteWeight has been vocal about this for many years, another study published at the end of last month concluded that the Gastric Bypass was the preferred option for Diabetes care. Nevertheless, both offer unique benefits and your entire medical history and current condition have to be fully considered before choosing.
For more information on Gastric Bypass and other weight loss surgical questions, please call BeLiteWeight today at 1-800-215-6497!
BeLiteWeight understands just how hard it can be to transform all of your daily habits into the healthy lifestyle that you desire. Sometimes you need a nudge in the right direction. It seems that was the case for Grace who has made some incredible progress this past year! Read her letter below.
“I started at 298 lbs I had tried everything to lose weight and just could not and my body and health were taking a beating so I had gastric bypass and it has been the best decision I have ever made. I am down to 164 lbs and have never felt healthier. Thank you to BeLite and my wonderful doctor I got my life back. “
Way to go Grace! We hope you are enjoying all of the new opportunities!
At the beginning of summer our BeLiteWeight team received a touching update from Gloria who had the Gastric Sleeve surgery by Dr. Rodriguez and his team in September of 2017. She still remembers the “final straw” that led her to surgery and the “wonderful” staff that helped her through the process! Read her letter below for some of her after thoughts on the entire process of medical care in Mexico.
After working out for decades and trying all sorts of meal plans, I’d never been able to achieve my weight loss goals. I’d stopped smoking 9 years prior to surgery, cut out soda for 4 years, adopted healthier recipes and had been competitively been walking 5ks for two years. My weight wasn’t increasing but neither was it decreasing. The final straw was when my previous gynecologist said “you need to quit shoving food in your face”. He didn’t care to know what I was doing nor did he take my health issues, like PCOS, into consideration. The insurance I had access to excluded bariatric coverage. So after consulting with my family doctor, he agreed that my best option was surgery. He said he could do tests to find out why I had trouble losing but surgery would be my best option, if I was comfortable with it. He agreed to follow me, if I choose to go to Mexico. I chose BeliteWeight and Dr. Villarreal-Rodriguez because I was able to find several local people from Indiana who he had also treated. The stay and the staff at the hospital were wonderful. I loved the security of being in a safe hospital setting with immediate access for emergency medical help, although I didn’t need it. I’m thankful I had made so many healthy changes prior to surgery. It made post op life easy to adjust to. It was amazing to watch the pounds melt off. My heaviest weight was 298. Preop, I was 275. By nine months after surgery, I had made my original goal of a healthy BMI for my height of 5’7” – 159. I realized that I hadn’t dreamed small enough. I made my ultimate goal of mid range healthy BMI by 12/18. I now average 140. (Picture is a size 22 to a size 4.)Instead of needing two blood pressure meds twice a day, I only need one pill once a day. This summer I’ve signed up for my regular 5ks but now have added a couple 10ks. Being able to squeeze into the back seat as a third person is fun too. The best advice I received with surgery, from a friend, was to not stop working towards your weight loss goals just because others tell you you’re getting to small. For me, most people have never seen me at a healthy weight, as the last time was 3rd grade. Some days will be hard, when you routinely hear “you’re almost (or are) to small” but don’t give up or back off. Seek out positive people, they’ll be help strengthen your resolve.
Gloria it is truly amazing how you cut more than 50 percent of your maximum body weight off! We are so proud of your accomplishments.
