Flor had her Gastric Sleeve surgery in December of 2021. She started at over 300 pounds and just one year later, she is looking and feeling better than she ever has! Not quite at goal, she is still working to get there, but in the meantime, she is enjoying her life with her family and says, “Knowing I extended my life span by making this choice is amazing. Here is her 1 year update in her own words:
“Hello!! Thank you!! Overall my journey has been great! I was fortunate enough to be able to glide through each step with out gas pain or any of the side effects many experience during this journey.
I immediately felt so much better physically. In a matter of weeks my leg inflammation and sciatica pain that had been a constant ailment and made my daily life that much harder to sit, stand or walk was gone!! Inflammation in my bladder that I wasn’t aware of also went away and I was no longer going to the restroom every 1.5 hours or having accidents. Obviously, my mobility and energy got better as I lost more weight. The physical outside changes have been amazing but having my chronic pain because of my weight disappear has been the biggest Blessing of all.
My only downfall is that my weight loss has been in stall mode since June. I weighed in at 245 then and have gone down to 230 and everywhere in between since then (Started at 315). Needless to say it has been very frustrating to not see the # ‘s go down. I obviously see the difference in my clothes and even shoe size. I don’t expect to be a size 4 or even a 10 I’m a big girl no matter what but my goal was to go down to 180 lbs. That will be my goal for these next couple of months by hitting my protein intake and exercises.
I will always tell anyone that asks me about this surgery, that it was the best decision of my life because it gave me my life back!! Being able to be at and volunteer at my kids sports/band activities, dance with my husband and enjoy life so much more is nothing but the biggest Blessing. Knowing I extended my life span by making this choice is amazing. Living without pain is the best part.“
