Baking can still be a fun treat even when you're on a diet or trying to live a healthier lifestyle. There are several recipes you can add to your go-to list that are still low in fat, calories, and safe for healthy eating habits, such as this perfectly baked and naturally sweet banana bread.
Bananas are a great source of potassium and other much needed vitamins and nutrients. If you have very ripe bananas you can use them in this low fat banana bread recipe that the entire family will love. The prep and baking time is fast and easy with the end results being incredibly tasty. Most ingredients can probably be found in your kitchen right now.
These ingredients will make enough banana bread for about twelve people, or two yields. Measure accordingly if you want a bigger or smaller batch. Here is the full ingredient list below:
- Four bananas, must be very ripe
- 1 1/2 cups of flour, all purpose
- One cup of white sugar
- Two tablespoons of butter, softened
- One teaspoon of vanilla extract
- One teaspoon of baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
- One egg, medium to large
- Two tablespoons of apple sauce, preferably low fat
And here are the instructions to make this delectable banana bread:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Mash bananas with fork or masher in a large bowl, making sure the mixture has a thick consistency. Then, add the rest of the ingredients in the bowl and begin to mix and stir vigorously until completely mixed together.
- Grease two loaf pans and then pour the mixture into both pans. Alternatively, you can use only one pan for a larger loaf that can be cut in half later on.
- Place the loaf pans in the oven for between 50 to 60 minutes. Use a toothpick in the center of the bread in order to see if it has baked through.
- Let cool for 15-20 minutes before cutting.
Serve and ENJOY!
