***Do NOT advance to this phase if you experienced any discomfort or intolerance during Week 1***
Week 2
RULE FOR THIS PHASE: If it does not slip off a plate OR go through a funnel, DO NOT CONSUME IT.
Example: Rice, oatmeal, refried beans and mashed potatoes DO NOT follow the rule, but a softly scrambled egg, yogurt and cottage cheese does.
In days 8-14 from your surgery date (your surgery date is DAY 1), you will be consuming FULL/PUREED LIQUIDS ONLY WITH A FEW EXCEPTIONS.
These foods/beverages are NOT lumpy and have the consistency of milk. They must be no thicker than yogurt or melt in your mouth.
Anything you feel that is too thick or chunky for this phase, you may blend it to a thinner consistency.
Continue to drink as much liquid as possible to stay well hydrated and stop if you feel full. Don’t gulp, take small sips. There is no limit in order to stay hydrated.
Continue to try to consume 40-60 grams of protein. To do this, you will need to break this up throughout your day – for example 10-15 grams of protein 4x a day.
***Start to have 3 planned “meals” and 2 snacks only***
