I graduated from Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health and then did an Internal medicine residency and am board certified in surgery and surgical critical care. I practiced Internal Medicine for six years before doing a surgery residency that time, the experiences that I have had as an Internist shaped who I am today and my path to help patients overcome obesity.
I took care of many patients that were suffering with diabetes, had high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, as well as Osteoarthritis. The one thing a lot of these patients had in common was obesity. No matter how much I treated the disease, the underlying condition of obesity was contributing in such a fashion that they could never go into remission. On the contrary, the diseases progressed even though patients tried diet and exercise to no avail. This was one of the sentinel events in my life that made me want to be a bariatric surgeon. Because of this, I did a residency in general surgery, surgical critical care and then finished up with a bariatric fellowship. Taking care of patients who are struggling with obesity and medical co-morbidities that could be alleviated by weight loss surgery has become my passion. I understand the disease process unlike any other bariatric surgeon, due to my experience as an internist and surgeon.
My unique insight will benefit my patients as I can better communicate with your internist, specialist or primary care physician in the process of preparing for the bariatric surgery and continuing to follow you after surgery. I am committed to making a difference in the lives of those suffering from obesity. I believe it is time to not just chase the disease, but get to the base of the disease.
On a personal note, I am married with five boys aged 13 years to 10 months. My wife is a stay at home mom and does home schooling. One of the passions we have as a family is spending time together. Our hobbies are hiking, swimming, and playing soccer. My kids also love video games, although I try to control the amount they play.
In my mind, the most prized possession a person has is their health. If you decide to have bariatric surgery, there is no better place to come than to Southern Nevada Bariatrics. I understand what you are going through and the frustrations you have had struggling with weight loss. Bariatric surgery is a tool that will help you lose the weight and gain your life and happiness back.
Let me help you achieve your dreams. Hope to see you soon.
